TRANSPORT GROUP circulates their artistic shows into the educational realm so students of all ages can benefit from TRANSPORT GROUP's artistic programming.
Normal in Schools:
In the fall of 2005, TRANSPORT GROUP premiered the musical Normal to critical acclaim. Developed by Jack Cummings III with music by Emmy award-winning composer Tom Kochan and lyrics by award-winning lyricist Cheryl Stern, Normal is librettist Yvonne Adrian and her daughter’s true success story about the family issues surrounding an eating disorder. During talkback sessions with doctors and survivors, the script encouraged discussions about body image, social and family issues to the degree that some audience members were inspired to seek treatment.
As a result, for its 2006 - 2007 outreach program, TRANSPORT GROUP's Education Wing developed an arts-in-education curriculum called Normal in Schools at Greendale High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The curriculum included: an educational version of the script performed by students and a book of lesson plans customized to the health, wellness, and life issues surrounding this topic.
